Windy Hills Bungalow was conceived with a profound respect for the virgin forest that surrounds it. During construction, our primary objective was to minimize our footprint, ensuring that no harm came to the natural landscape that makes this location so magical.

Today, we maintain the lush greenery using our own in-house composting system, entirely eliminating the need for artificial fertilizers. This organic approach keeps the soil rich and the ecosystem balanced.

Because of this untouched harmony, the resort is a haven for wildlife. Guests can regularly observe endemic birds singing in the canopy, vibrant butterflies dancing through the flora, and majestic deer roaming freely across the land.

The Story of Belihuloya

Nestled in the Sabaragamuwa Province, Belihuloya is a climatically transitional area, bridging the dry and wet zones of Sri Lanka. Historically, it has been a sacred middle-ground for travelers, kings, and merchants traversing the steep mountain passes toward the hill capital. The name itself invokes the image of the rushing 'Oya' (stream) that has carved out the breathtaking valleys over millennia. Today, it stands as one of the last remaining untouched ecological frontiers, offering a glimpse into the raw, ancient beauty of the island.
